Chairperson

Mr. Stephen V. Barbaro was born in Brooklyn and attended Midwood High School (1975). He earned a bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University (1979) where he majored in Government & Politics and minored in Philosophy. He earned a juris doctor degree from Brooklyn Law School (1982). He was admitted to practice law before the Appellate Division: Second Department, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a partner in the firm of Alter & Barbaro, Esqs., a general litigation and transactional firm with offices in Brooklyn. He is married to Margaret Barbaro and has three children, Stephanie, Katherine and Stephen, all St. Margaret graduates.

Mrs. Christine Arundel is a parent of three teenagers who graduated from St. Margaret School over a span of 14 years. Her youngest child graduated in June 2015. Mrs. Arundel is a first-generation American with her parents having immigrated to America from Germany and Austria to follow their American dreams. She grew up helping/working alongside her parents in their bakery in Ozone Park. She is long-time resident of Middle Village and a graduate of Resurrection Ascension School and The Mary Louis Academy. She and her husband, Keith, have been parishioners of St. Margaret Church since they married in 1995, and her family remains active members. She has a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Hofstra University and has business experience in banking, bookkeeping and event planning. She has a master’s degree in Elementary Education from Hofstra University and holds NYS certificates in PreK-6, Gifted Education, Special Education and School Building Leadership. For 11 years, she was a teacher in both Catholic and public schools prior to obtaining her current position of assistant principal in 2014. 

Mr. Christopher Coscia is the Chief Operating Officer for the Greater New York Councils, Boy Scouts of America. In his current role, he primarily oversees membership enrollment, volunteer recruitment and program enhancement for the 47,000 children and 4,000 adults registered locally to the Boy Scouts of America. Under his direction, the Greater New York Councils has seen an increase in enrollment, visibility and funding. Chris was born and raised in Middle Village and is a graduate of St. Margaret’s School and St. Francis Prep, and he has a degree in Business Management from St. Francis College. He is currently a board member of NY Rotary and St. Margaret’s Academy. He is married to his lovely wife Lorna, former teacher at St.Margaret’s, and has two beautiful children, Ava and Ella.

Deacon John Francis DeBiase is part of a long line of SMS and SMCA graduates, from his dad to his son Danny to his many cousins, aunts and uncles. John holds a bachelor’s degree from St. John’s and a master’s from Iona. He has been married to Sheila (née Mullins) since 1986. They have three sons, two daughters-in-law and a granddaughter. John has often said that St. Margaret is part of his fabric, and his love for its mission led him to the board.

Ms. Jeanne Perry has been working as EVP of Business Affairs for The Wildflower Group since June of 2003. During her 13+ years at TWG, she has been responsible for all finance, legal and business affairs, human resources and administration activities for the company. Jeanne also provides part-time bookkeeping services for a restaurant/bar/catering hall. Prior to joining TWG, Jeanne served for 12 years at very senior levels at HIT Entertainment, and her resume also includes nine years in the licensing division of Hanna-Barbera. In May of 2015, Jeanne completed the three-year lay ministry program run by the Pastoral Institute of the Brooklyn Diocese that prepared her to be a pastoral leader to serve as a co-coordinator of the Ministry of Hospitality at St. Margaret. Jeanne is also active in the parish as Extraordinary HC Minister, Lector, and member of the Family Mass committee. 

Briana Podlovits was born and raised in Middle Village, where she still resides. She attended St. Margaret’s School (2008) followed by The Mary Louis Academy (2012). She earned a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations & Communications with a minor in Journalism from Mount Saint Mary College (2016). She currently works as an Operations, Marketing & Development Manager in Brooklyn. Briana is the Athletic Director for St. Margaret’s CYO Sports Program and serves as a basketball coach for a CYO team and a travel team. St. Margaret’s alumni run deep in her family; her father and his three brothers attended, as did her two younger sisters.
